Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable and Environmental Awareness

Our Policy.

Ubiquity like to lead the field – we have recently become involved with 9trees.org to ensure that we take practicable steps to offset our carbon footprint as a business.

9Trees CIC is a not-for profit Community Interest Company, set up by a group of people determined to make a positive impact on the environment. The Directors of 9Trees come from a nature conservation background and promoting native wildlife and sustainable woodland sites is at the core of their mission.

Ubiquity are proud to be working towards becoming a Certified B Corp business.

B Corp core values are to increase awareness on environmental and sustainable issues, reduce energy consumption, improve waste management, reduce carbon emissions and increase carbon offset.

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose.

A global movement of people using business as a force for good, the values and aspirations of the B Corp community are embedded in the work that we do at Ubiquity. We look to use introduce ethical and Core B suppliers into our business and ensure that these suppliers operate ethically and accountable sustainable procedures. Where possible we look to trade with other Corp B businesses.

Reducing Energy Usage.

Ubiquity is based in serviced offices that were built in 1990 and have since been through three major refurbishments, each designed to make the building more efficient in terms of energy and sustainability.

With increasing environmental awareness, the building is currently undergoing work to change from a mixed mode ventilation environment, EPC rated C building to one that exhibits an A rating.

With that goal as a yard stick, the dated heating systems (20 % of the building left to do) is being replaced to A rated energy efficient heating and air conditioning.

The roof is future proofed for the addition of solar panels. The A rated units are developed by Mitsubishi and use less refrigerant than standard systems, proven to be less harmful to our environment and requiring less demand on the electricity supply.

All lighting is LED and movement sensor regulated. Staff at Ubiquity are environmentally aware, ensuring that dishwashers are used on minimum cycles and ensuring that all computers are turned off when not in use.

Water & Waste management.

All urinals movement sensitive and the toilets are set to minimum flush (6 Litre), the hand dryers are air only; providing more efficient drying than heat and air. Recycling bins are available throughout the offices and encourages staff to self-sort their recycling. However, dry mixed recycling (commonly known as Co-mingled Recycling) is an innovative solution that Ubiquity support with our non – confidential waste disposal.

Paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, drinks cans and food tins can all be mixed together in one single container. Our waste management company sorting and repurpose and waste that slips though the self-sort process.

Our confidential waste is shredded and then recycled through secure managed channels with our recycling company.
